for anti-bullying event

(Atlanta, GA) Pop singer/dancer and anti-bullying ambassador Aleacea celebrated her super sweet 13th birthday by giving back to young¬†girls in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta on November 16, 2013. The ‚ÄúNo Mean Girlz Allowed‚ÄĚ party welcomed girls between the ages of 8-12 from the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta,¬†I Am A Queen Foundation, several other community organizations and schools in the Atlanta metro area to a virtual¬†Dollhouse to educate and encourage girls on the negative effects of bullying. The free pinktastic extravaganza began with the girls walking the red carpet while 10-year-old rolling out guest correspondent, recording artist/personality Santiago interviewed guests on their personal experiences with bullying.

Aleacea kicked off the party with a special performance of her¬†single ‚ÄúPink‚ÄĚ featuring Corrine. ImageFollowing Aleacea‚Äôs performance, 10-year-old Kennedy Prather bravely shared her story as a former victim of bullying with the other girls. Attendees also shared their stories, played ‚ÄúRumor Control‚ÄĚ an anti-bullying game for kids and answered questions about bullying for a chance to win special prizes. Aleacea returned to the stage for her second performance of her hit single and girls‚Äô anti-bullying anthem ‚ÄúMean Girlz.‚ÄĚ

Actor and R&B heartthrob Jacob Latimore (The Black Nativity)¬†surprised the birthday girl with a special message and commended her work as an advocate against bullying and her single ‚ÄúMean Girlz.‚ÄĚ The evening ended with guests cheering Aleacea on as she¬†blew out the candles on her own pink Hollywood star cake. Sponsors for the event included rolling out Magazine, The Virgin Hair Fantasy, Goldest Karat, Bexclusives and RO Graphx. The event was a collaborative effort by The Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta, Stop Your Bullying, No Dais Off Productions and Enchanted PR.

(Atlanta, GA) The Las Vegas Urban League held its annual fundraiser EQUAL OPPORTUNITY DAY (EOD) Community Luncheon on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Las Vegas Urban League’s president and CEO Kevin E. Hooks honored Steed Media CEO and Publisher Munson Steed with the Innovator of the Year award.

Munson Steed is the CEO of the Steed Media Group, a multimedia company that includes fifteen year old publication, rolling out‚ÄĒ the largest chain of African-American-owned weekly newspapers in the country. ‚ÄúMunson Steed was given the Innovation Award for his accomplishments in transforming his company from a single newspaper into full-fledged media content development company.¬†Steed has taken a newspaper product and transformed it from one newspaper to an entire chain.¬†As technology advanced, he transformed rolling out¬†from a¬†national print publication to the largest transformed web destination for a print publication conversions, while still printing two million people a month at RollingOut.com,” explained Las Vegas Urban League president Kevin Hooks.

“This Innovation Award distinguishes Steed on his accomplishments spearheading his company to create content for national companies like Home Depot, Toyota and, Ford. It is this type of innovation that Steed has recognized that given the opportunity that visionaries do exist. The Innovation Award is for those who distinguish themselves by being able to survive in a competitive world but thrive through innovation and through professional perseverance,‚ÄĚ Hooks said. Munson Steed accepted the award from board members of the National Urban League of Las Vegas.

Guest speaker was Dr. Dennis Kimbro, who is ranked among the top university professors in the nation and is author of several books including ‚ÄúThe Wealth Choice.‚ÄĚ ¬†The event was hosted by actor Malik Yoba.¬† Entertainment was provided by young violinist Brandon Summers who serenated guests during lunch. Soprano Lillian Roberts and Mexican tenor Marco Varela performed a duet at the end of the luncheon.

(Atlanta, GA) Atlanta the birthplace of the iconic pop group TLC celebrated the highly anticipated televised premiere of the VH1 biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story on Monday October 21st at Suite Restaurant and Lounge. Actor Carl Payne (The Cosby Show/Martin), who portrays L.A. Reid in the film hosted the celebratory night with supporting cast members, music executives that were involved in TLC’s twenty plus year career, and media guests.

Aside from a guest list of media and celebrity supporters,¬†fans formed¬†lines around the corner of the¬†posh new establishment waiting¬†to witness the premiere¬†in support of the best-selling girl group¬†that¬†was founded in Atlanta GA years ago by LaFace Records.¬†Some of the¬†evening’s special guests included music industry veteran Shanti Das,¬†Ian Burke, singer Bobby Valentino, Memphitz, Nicci Gilbert (R&B Divas), Lil Scrappy (Love & Hip Hop Atlanta), actor/singer Cori Sims,¬†comedian Rodney Perry, socialite/philanthropist Chanita Foster, socialite Sheneka Adams, Reigndrop Lopes (sister of Lisa Left Eye¬†Lopes)¬†and many more.

The evening began with host Carl Payne thanking the crowd for support and encouraging¬†fans to show their support via social media. Chilli and T-Boz appreciated the love and support from Atlanta and millions of viewers who tuned-in to CrazySexyCool. The packed room fell silent again as Chilli and T-Boz appeared as themselves on the screen recording ‚ÄúMeant to Be‚ÄĚ in the studio with Ne-Yo. As the movie ended guests applauded and requested for the VH1 encore to be played. (Atlanta, GA) Towanda Braxton celebrated her fabulous 40th¬†birthday in ‚ÄúSchool Daze‚ÄĚ style, with one of the biggest birthday bashes of the year.¬†The party kicked off with 150 Tri-Cities high school band members marching down Brady Avenue leading up to the¬†venue with a mysterious drum¬†centered in their midst.¬†After a spectacular performance, the drum opened and¬†Towanda Braxton emerged¬†greeting partygoers in a blinged out sheer bodysuit, showing off her curves to perfection. Along with a supporting cast of her beautiful sisters, Tamar, Toni, Traci and Trina¬†and their proud parents in tow, the Braxtons celebrated the life of ‚Äúthe responsible one‚ÄĚ with panache.

 

In attendance were some of Atlanta’s music scene including V-103/HGTV personality Egypt Sherrod, R&B singer Nivea, Sammie, producer Jazze Pha, Jevon Sims (The New Atlanta),  Imagephilanthropist Bo Talley, Sister 2 Sister media maven Jamie Foster Brown, R&B group B5, Disney/Tyler Perry Studios actor Chris Tavarez and several others who came out to wish the birthday girl well.  

 

Under the leadership of event coordinator Chef Ashley, the Compound was turned into a virtual college campus, aptly named Towanda University. A football field, student hall and dorm room were virtual experiences guests walked through on their way to the staging area to gain the full university experience. A night of surprises including a dance floor complete with break-dancers, numerous Greek step performances and two tricked out motorcycles parked near the dance floor reminiscent of Grease. Nothing surprised guests more than the larger than life spray painted portraits of the Braxton sisters highlighting the pond area of the venue, where eventually Towanda and her sisters took to the stage to party the evening away.

 

Towanda’s 40 and Fabulous School Daze edition was captured for Braxton Family Values, the number one rated show on WE tv.
